What’s the latest information about COVID-19 and how it’s affecting campus?
Will students living in double rooms still have roommates?
Yes. You and your roommate will be responsible for keeping your room a clean and healthy environment — similar to your responsibilities at home.
What precautions are you taking to keep students, families and MU employees safe during move-in?
In addition to precautions listed at MU Alert, we will:
- Schedule additional move-in dates and times to limit the density of students and family members;
- Perform enhanced disinfection of the many high-touch surfaces within your hall; and
- Coordinate with public health officials and campus communication staff to share the most up-to-date health information.
Do I need to bring any COVID-related items to campus?
We encourage all residents to bring with them:
- Face coverings (re-usable, washable)
- Hand sanitizer, alcohol-based with at least 60% alcohol
- Cleaning supplies (i.e., sanitizing wipes)
- Acetaminophen or ibuprofen
- If applicable and possible, an extra month supply of any prescription medication
- Any resources needed to complete classwork remotely
What kind of help will be available during move-in?
Due to social distancing guidelines, will not have volunteers to physically help move your personal belongings.
You can expect to see resident advisors, desk attendants and other Residential Life staff. We’ll be there to welcome you, answer questions and support you as you transition to life at Mizzou.
Are my family and I required to wear face coverings while I move in?
Maybe. We’ll let you know in late July. Public health recommendations change quickly, and we can’t predict what precautions will be appropriate on your move-in day.
Will there still be opportunities to build community and get involved?
Yes! We are evaluating all residential programming to limit group sizes while still offering plenty of opportunities to build community and get involved.
I left campus but I left some things behind. How do I get them back?
If you have left campus and have not taken your belongings with you, there is no need to return immediately to collect your things. Please complete this form, and we will work with you on a date that best fits us and you.
I left campus and took my belongings with me. Am I done?
If you have already left campus and have taken your belongings with you, please complete a self-checkout form.
I want to sign a contract.
We’re temporarily pausing the renewal process and assessing our capacity. Because first-time college students are required to live with Residential Life, we need to make sure there is enough space for those required to live on campus before we can offer housing to returning students.
What is the waitlist?
Adding your name to the waitlist lets us know that you want to live with Residential Life — and we want you to live with us! If you add your name to the waitlist, we’ll let you know as soon as we’re able to accept contracts again.
What happens if I don’t get a room with Residential Life?
There is no shortage of student housing in Columbia, so there’s no rush to sign an off-campus contract. Our friends at Off-Campus Student Services can help. Visit offcampus.missouri.edu for more information, and mark your calendar to attend the Housing Fair Feb. 5. Follow @MizzouOffCampus on Twitter to find out more about their educational sessions.
Can I move off campus mid-year?
If you’re not a first-year student, you may cancel your contract without penalty if you leave campus to study abroad, to attend another school, withdraw or for other academic reasons. If you’re unsure, give us a call at 573-882-7275 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please be aware that university policy requires first-time college students to live in Residential Life residence facilities. If you are a first-time college student, your contract is for a complete academic year. All residents who have signed a legal contract are required to fulfill their responsibilities.
Can I move into another room?
You are welcome to submit a room move request and we will try our best to accommodate you.
